11th  INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MARITIME HEALTH

ODESSA, UKRAINE, 6 - 10 SEPTEMBER, 2011

CALL FOR PAPERS, PRESENTATIONS, ABSTRACTS, POSTERS, ETC.

 DEAR SIRS,

The 11th international symposium in maritime health (ISMH11) is to be held in Odessa, Ukraine from the 6th to the 10th September, 2011. The scientific committee is pleased to send out the first call for papers, presentations, abstracts, posters, etc.

The topic for this symposium is “Maritime Health- an International Challenge” .  Please, read the below instructions for authors and comply. If there are any queries from your side, you can reach out to us at nymba@mail.ru with a copy to medtrans2@rambler.ru

 INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Abstracts will be accepted until 31st December 2010. Please follow these instructions carefully. Abstracts that do not conform to the required format will be returned for the reformatting. All subjects should  be linked as far as possible, to the headline  fort he symposium, i.e. “Maritime Health- an International Challenge”  All accepted abstracts will be printed in a brochure and distributed during the symposium. All presented Full papers will be produced in the CD format and distributed to all attendees within six moths of the symposium.

PAGE SIZE: The dimensions of the abstract must fit within the template, should not exceed 17 cm wide x 12 cm deep, including the title, authors, and institutional addresses. The font to the used throughout is 11 point Times new Roman. The language  the abstracts should be English.

Inside the template box, please, type the following.

TITLE:  the title should be typed in bold, upper case. Do not include a blank line after the title.

AUTHORS’ NAME (S): The authors’ names should be typed in lower case. The format for the authors’ name(s) is initials (no full stops) (space) surname (comma). The presenting authors’ name should  be underlined. Do not include honorable titles, position, etc. into this line.

INSTITUTIONS: The Institutions should   be typed in lower case not justified. If there is more than one institution, use superscript numbers to link authors to their institution.  Each institution is described by the name of the institution, the city, state and country. Do not include the street address or postcode. Semicolons should separate institutions. Each institution on a new line.

ABSTRACTS TEXT.

The abstract text should not exceed  300 words. Use the headings INTRODUCTION, METHODS, RESULTS and CONCLUSIONS: typed in bold (including the colon). If the text will not fit within the specified size, edit to fit; do not use a font less than 11 point.  COMMUNICATIONS FROM ORIGINAL RESEARCHES ARE  WELCOMED! Abstracts for presentations without any specified methods and results included, can omit these two headings, but INTRODUCTION and CONCLUSIONS should  always be included.

 IV.            CONTACTS DETAILS FOR SUBMITTING AUTHOR: Please, type the name of the submitting author, postal address, telephone, fax   and e-mail address

 V.               PREFERED PRESENTATION MODE: In the space under the contact details, please, indicate the preferred mode of presentation using “ORAL”, “POSTER” or “Either ORAL or Poster”. Please, note  that final assignment of oral or poster presentation will be at the discretion of the organizers.

 VI.            ABSTARCT SUBMISSION. Abstracts should be submitted as Microsoft Word for Windows documents with a “. doc” extension. If this is not possible, save as a Rich Text File (.rtf). The abstract should  be saved with the file name “ISMH11-author surname”. If there is more than one abstract from the same author, please, number them consecutively: “ISMH11-author surname_1” ,  “ISMH11-author surname_2”, etc.  Abstracts should be submitted as an attachment  to ISMH11.abstr@gmail.com with cc to ismh11@mtwtu.org.ua The subject line of the e-mail  must be “ISMHa11Abstarct-author surname” . Abstracts will  not be accepted by fax or disk. The deadline for receipts of abstracts is 20st April 2011.  The presenting author will be sent an e-mail advising  the receipt of abstracts. If such an advice  is not received  within  a week, please, do not hesitate to contact the scientific committee by nymba@mail.ru to clear up the point. Your abstract will be assigned with a number, which should be used  for any correspondence relating to your abstract.  This abstract number should also be assigned to the power point presentations; you either send one beforehand or handed to the congress team when you arrive.

 VII.         ACCEPTPANCE TIMETABLE: deadline for Abstracts is 20 April 2011. Participants will be notified whether their abstracts has been accepted by 28 February 2011. The presenting author must register for the symposium by 20 April 2011 for the accepted abstracts to be included in the final programme.

 VIII.       ABSTRACT PUBLICATION: the organising committee is planning to have the abstracts published in a book together with the programme to be delivered to the participants at the beginning of the symposium.

 IX.            INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTATIONS AND POSTERS.

 ORAL PRESENTATIONS: Presenter (s) must use PowerPoint (any version is satisfactory).

·        naming your presentation – files must be named as “ISMH11-author’s surname”. If you have more than one presentation give them consecutive numbers;

·        presenters can e-mail their presentations to ISMH11.abstr@gmail.com with copy to nymba@mail.ru E-mail your presentations –power point presentation and full text. Otherwise, please, bring your presentation on 3.5” diskette, memory stick or CD that has been formatted for PC readability;

·        please bring a back-up copy with you to the conference;

·        you will not be permitted to use your own computer. Computer files of all presentations will be copied onto a single computer before your session;

·        keynote presentation will be of 30 min duration (including 10-15 minutes question time);

·        oral session presentations will be 20 minutes (including 2-5 minutes question time);

·        please, meet the chairperson of the session before the start.

 POSTER PRESENTATIONS; Posters are not to be larger than 0.9x1.5 meters. They should be installed on display boards by the author(s) at your numbered position in the poster room on September 8.   Posters should remain  until September 9, 7 p.m. The author(s) will be required to stand next to the posters on the day allocated.
